Gatekeeping in the news ČT1 a TV Nova

Bachelor thesis Gatekeeping in the news ČT1 and TV Nova is focused on gatekeeping process in the most watched commercial television and the most watched public television. Gatekeeping is the process within which gatekeepers decide what information will not be processed as a news and, vice versa, what information will be processed and will become a news to be broadcasted in television. This process is controlled by gatekeepers on whom the decision-making processes depend. One chapter of the thesis deals with the history of researches focused on gatekeeping process and one chapter deals with the most comprehensive gatekeeping research carried out by Pamela Shoemaker. Other chapters address information sources in the Czech Republic, news values and researches focused on determination who are persons speaking in news. The practical part of the bachelor thesis is based on detailed interviews with individual gatekeepers in the ČT1 and TV Nova newsrooms. It is the aim of the bachelor thesis to map functioning of decision-making processes (who determines themes of news, who decides on replacement of a news by another one) in ČT1 and TV Nova newscast. Deloitte as an example of corporate agenda building in the Czech media

The thesis provides an insight into corporate agenda-building process in the Czech media. Using the Czech division of Deloitte as an example, the thesis will demonstrate the common practices companies use to get their topics published in media, how they are successful and how they really influence the media agenda. To answer these questions, the thesis uses quantitative content analysis of 248 pieces of news from Mladá Fronta DNES, Hospodářšké noviny, Lidové noviny, Právo, television stations ČT24, Nova and Prima and also radio station Český rozhlas - Radiožurnál. Besides that, the thesis will provide an insight into the way journalists work with sources of information and their autoregulative techniques, as well as into the work of PR professionals, who are significant actors in the agenda-building process. The aim of this thesis is to introduce the corporate sphere as an influential actor in the agenda-building process and to uncover the influences journalists have to face in their work.

How are people with mental handicap informed about sexuality

This thesis deals with the awareness of people with mental handicap in the area of sexuality and relationships. In the theoretical section defines mental handicap and describes in detail the issues of sexuality and partner relationships for people with mental handicap. This description includes human sexuality and its importace, stereotypes about sexuality of people with mental handicap and its specifications, legal documents pertaining to this issue and its current status. The theoretical part closes the chapter, which charts the possibility of sources of information on sexuality and partner relationships for people with mental handicap. Practical work examines how people with mental handicap know about sexuality and relationships and what sources they draw information. The research method was semi-structured interviews with 5 women and 5 men with mental handicap. At the end of the work there are several recommendation for non profit organization workers how to work with their clients.
Design of Competitive Intelligence for the construction company

This thesis describes the design of Competitive Intelligence for the selected construction company. The main objective of this work is to choose a competent person responsible for the implementation of activities of CI in this company, identify appropriate sources for information about the company environment and tools for monitoring. The theoretical part is based on the scientific literature and focuses on the characteristics of competitive intelligence and describes the various phases of the intelligence cycle. The theoretical part includes the chapter, which deals with the issue of CI in the small companies. Then, there is the typology of information sources which describes the tools for information monitoring through the Internet. The practical part of this thesis deals with the design system of the competitive intelligence for the selected company. The first part has evaluated the actual situation in the construction industry in the Czech Republic and conducted research information sources suitable for tracking environment of the construction company. Based on this research there are recommended sources of information in the next chapter that should be monitored and there are also selected tools for collecting and monitoring information. Part of the proposed solution is the choice of the officer responsible for the conduct of CI. The last chapter of the practical part describes the processes that must be performed by the specialist in the various stages of the reporting cycle and it also determines the structure of the data entered into the system. The contribution of this work is to improve collecting, processing and distributing information efficiency about the company´s environment and to establish a systematic recording of detected events, opportunities and threats. Another benefit is a practical demonstration of the introduction of the CI system that respects the constraints of small companies and an overview of IT tools, which can be used by these companies for systematic information monitoring and collection.
Sources of information on income and expenditure of municipalities and its utilization

The master thesis focuses on the management of the municipality and its sources of information. Thesis mainly applies on the information based on the accounting reform of public finances in 2010. The aim is to describe the information, show its explanatory power and its power in the control of the municipality management performed by taxpayer. In terms of the volume of resources, taxpayers should to be the most important stakeholder group using municipality management information. They provide the largest amount of funds as a form of compulsory payments to the public exchequer for providing activities of the municipality. The last part of thesis presents information on the usability of the data on the economy of the town Semily in 2013.
Credibility of information in state institutions

This work describes the problem of information credibility in state institutions with the help of using various methods (deduction, induction and synthesis). Work describes mainly theory but also some existing approaches in real work of this institutions. The work describes the problem beginning from collecting information, verifying information and information sources, related credibility, concepts, typologies and so on. Then, it describes the phenomenon of misinformation (or disinformation) and clarifies if this phenomenon is a part of real daily work of certain state institutions. Then in work is described the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and their approach to information (typology of information, resources, verifying information, actors which collect information). In addition, work presents such institution as the Office for Foreign Relations and Information, which is also a state institution and is a leading supplier of information to the MFA. Understanding the issue of such a sensitive topic in such closed institutions is based on publicly published sources. In work are also described methodologies of verifying information and procedures of risk management used in the situation of obtaining false information. At the same time, work contains a few of author's solutions for some parts of the work.
